Tada!! We're done and in, and all dressed up!

So, short of a few finishing touches, (including exterior paint all around :), we're done!

Our new front gate went on yesterday, and will be painted today, Christmas Eve.
We do have a little part-time pet that has adopted us, as you can see she's very reluctant to leave the yard, because now she can't just wander in any more.
We call her Bugs, because Vic thinks she's as cute as a bug's ear!

Exterior is finished, waiting to fully cure before we paint it in the New Year!

Welcome to our new home!

Entering into the living room (la sala), you see our new couch and table set, and we even have started our decorating, using lime green as or accents!

Here is the dining room (el comedor), looking through into the kitchen.
Our tiles are looking great, despite people continuing to track in the dust that will no doubt plague us for the next few months - I shall survive!

Nice big bright rooms throughout, and ceiling fans everywhere! :)

A closer view of the dining room area looking towards the bar. You can see the semi luna (half moon) window in the kitchen.

From the bar looking into the kitchen.

Our new pantry (otherwise sold as a bookshelf), with all its perfect nooks and crannies on both sides, for the all important wine accessories and spices!

Looking from the kitchen side towards living/dining room

Our open concept kitchen cupboards, with the beautiful tiles and our lovely new fridge.

Vic's wine cooler! Okay, so I drink some too! Check out the tile border at the top of the counter, creating the divider between the two levels. And from here you can see the half moon window above the living room window, and our gorgeous front door!  You can also see the half moon arch above the front gate if you look carefully, tying together our arches theme.

Our new fridge, microwave, and a great perspective of the tilework on the counter/bar.

Check out the campana (range hood Mayan style), and our gas stove!

Open concept under sink for now. Our kitchen faces west. You can also see my Christmas present here, a dishwasher!  Yeah! And yes, we had our electrician/plumber install two filters on the water system to clarify the water.

But can we keep it this organized and tidy? This remains to be seen!

Old guy in our new office. This will become our second bedroom as soon as someone! says they're coming to visit us! We'd love to have you!

Cleaned up furniture we purchased from the previous owner at the time.

Our new bathroom

With lots of light due to glass blocks and a skylight (tragaluz), which even allows for airflow through screened openings.

Laundry and linen closet now in our expanded bathroom

Our stone sink with fun new faucet

And our very bright and spacious master bedroom!

And outside, we have begun the work of painting the pool, which sadly means it won't be ready to swim in for at least another week, as the paint has to cure :(.

Tilework is in and really accentuated even with the first coat of new paint
New stairs will make it easier to get in and out!

Our bench seat in the far shady corner - for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine, and allowing me to avoid the afternoon sun

The garden with outdoor shower wall showing in the background left

The bodega (shed) with Vic's turtle above

The turtle

And we're in, and tomorrow is Christmas!

So with this we wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and hope you have enjoyed our journey alongside us!

Love, hugs and blessings for the New Year.   We await your visit!!

Debbie and Vic :)

Getting ready to move in!!

Some of our furniture has arrived! A few little glitches, but nothing to speak of, so we are ecstatic!

Comedor (dining/eating) set

Appliances installed

Baskets bought from the basket man on the corner in Merida by the Star Medica hospital!
Prices are great, especially since I will need lots of baskets with our open concept.

Stove's in and running!

Vic in our new office

Our new bedroom set! Yeah! Now we just need to buy a mattress!

Looking pretty snazzy!

Finishing touches

With our original contract now completed on perfect time with our team of workers (other than the original electrician), our new contract to paint the entire inside of the house begins. So work began for our same team (for less than $1000 including 1 coat of sealer and 2 of paint throughout the house + cleaning, sanding and repainting all our wrought iron protectors - 11!) began!

Unfortunately, the electrical team, Raoul and his 19 year old son Omar, are still playing catch up!
So, when some rooms are already painted, the boys often need to go back in, open up more concrete, and put the wiring in the places it should be!

Which of course creates more work for our guys, but they're still smiling!

And despite too much paint on the floor for my liking (okay, I know I'm picky!),
they are doing a great job and very quickly!

And Juan Carlos is still alone in the back putting together the added touches we wanted on the pool!

My corner bench in the shady spot, for relaxing and having a glass of wine while bathing! Ha!
It will happen!!

And the appliances arrive!!!

The front gate is to be installed, and the wrought iron boys start with the sun arch at the top!

Looking pretty stunning!

Okay, not bad either :)

Wow! Our new cleaning lady and her crew (4 of them) worked from 10am to 8pm and found a beautiful house underneath all that dust!
10 hours x 4 people = $700 (pesos, not Canadian dollars)! You can do the math by now.
Pretty stupendous!!

And Vic rearranged the furniture we had from the previous owner into the office/spare bedroom, and once cleaned, makes for a lovely office!

Can you believe it!! We're still not sure.

Look, I even have the absolutely unheard of here, a dishwasher!!!!
