Dave and Jo come to visit, so we do get a night off!

Dave and Jo arrived from Cranbrook, so we got together a group and headed to the State Fair the next night!

Awesome bus system to drive us the hour south, then back after 5 hours at the fair - $65 (about $5 Cdn), so we could all relax (and Dad could nap of course)!

Lots to see and do at the Fair - a definarium...

Some lovely wildlife that we could even handle if we wanted to, or purchase!
An adorable lemur was at a cost of just $65,000 (pesos), so about $5,000 Cdn.  Cute, but we declined!  Ha.

Jo was in her element with all the birds!

And prairie dogs

and iguanas!

Lots of colour and noise, and great snacks everywhere!

And some very different cows than any I'd ever seen!

We walked and toured, and had a great time, and the entrance fee? $15 (pesos), so about $1.20 Canadian!

Dave even got his fortune told by a live statue!

And the chicken danced for us

Later in the week we even went out for supper at one of our favourite restaurants in Progreso - Sol y Mar, where they serve wonderful stuffed fish, fajitas, guacamole and lots more!

It was nice to have a bit of a break!

Almost done!

The arch unveiled!

The arch window in the living room is cut out!

Spare room closet is finished and all the floors and baseboards are in throughout the house!

And our assistant electrician (yes, it's Pepe from previous days!) :) is helping Raoul really put up the lights!

The bathroom is looking awesome!

And look, we have lights!!!

The kitchen just needs paint now

Two ceiling fans up and running in the living room, and the air conditioners are all installed!

Finishing touches on the arch,

And the Wrought iron team is here to create the window protector for the new arch in the living room!

Just days away now! :)

Progress!

Moving on to the outside of things, the front wall is going up, and the arch begun!

Dodi is working hard on building the forms for the wall

And CFE (the local electricity company) came out and upgraded our electricity to 220, so we can have air conditioners in our new home!

The forms are held up by boards and old tree trunks while the cement sets.

And Manuel is still packing around all the heavy stuff, like buckets of cement!

And Juan Carlos is putting the third coat of cement on the house exterior!  Things are wrapping up quickly :)

The front wall is looking great!

And our bicycle shed is ready, with doors and everything!

Inside, the campana (hood range) is ready and looks great!

The master bedroom closet has been finished with the tile in place

And the linen closet shelves are up in the bathroom/laundry

Things are rolling along great! Only a week to go to our deadline date!!

The ABC's of Hope Dessert Fundraiser

Mary Walberg has headed up a new program whereby some of the kids that need it most are receiving English classes.  In order to raise funds to make this happen, an amazing dessert night came to pass!

For less than $10. we each received 3 pieces of a choice of about 20 desserts (very hard to pick),  and the money raised goes to help with their educations.

A great group of women baked and served too!

And we were at a beautiful restaurant in Chelem, Yucatan, just West of Progreso called Soma. Apparently their food is excellent too, but they provided the venue for the event.

And the Zumba instructors entertained us with a lively ance in some very gorgeous costumes.

We will be back to sample the fair!
